Sand Boarding in Doha Desert, Qatar

I know…
we said we would rest on our way home… well the opportunity came up to go on a “desert safari” whilst on our stopover in Doha, so of course we took it. And wasn’t it good fun.

Firstly it was dune-bashing in the 4WD;

And then it was jumping over the edge of a sand dune;

and then the sand boards came out and off we went.

What a hoot.

And then just as we were heading back at sunset, the locals were coming in; generally using it like we do the bush. It ended up looking like Bourke St somewhat… who’d have thought!

Back to the land of Melbourne Saturday early a.m.
The end of another adventure, and of course, already planning the next!

Back in Melbourne – home sweet home!

I don’t know about you, but I struggle terribly when returning from big adventures. Apart from the jetlag, the internals of the bags strewn from one end of the house to the other, the build-up of dirty washing and the fridge which requires refilling… everything that was once your normal existence is coloured by the additional world view you now have, and as a result, it does take me some time to readjust.

How does everything just go back to “normal”?
Its invigorating roaming the world and forgetting all about responsibility. Which comes back and hits big time, right between the eyes actually, once you look at that mail pile and the inbox from hell! I must say I do feel for friends, colleagues and family coz they don’t know quite what to do with me either… and guess what, nor do I!
I’ll come good soon enough… no really I will 🙂

Back to school day today.
Back into the routine.

…Oh to be back on the road, freewheeling, writing blog updates…
Maybe the way to do it is to put the adventure goggles on and view home life through a similar len?… some surprising results could flush out I’m sure… one would hope so…
